Itinerary

– Kilkenny Castle (Ticket included 60′)
Was founded after the Norman conquest of Ireland. The castle has been rebuilt to suit the needs of its inhabitants. This grand country house surrounded by parkland with mature trees, woodlands and a terraced rose garden amongst others is a Victorian remodelling of the thirteenth-century defensive Castle. Self-guide (we can´t guarantee tour guiding).

– Rothe House and Garden (Ticket included 45′. This attraction on Monday will be replaced by St. Canice´s Cathedral)
This merchant’s house, built around two courtyards, was restored in 1966. Now it is the headquarters of the Kilkenny Archaeological Society. Self-guide

– Kyteler’s Inn (20′)
Kyteler’s Inn is a public house located in the heart of medieval Kilkenny. It dates back to 1263 and it combines a rich heritage with 21st century amenities.

– Butter Slip (20′)
Butter Slip is the most picturesque of Kilkenny’s narrow medieval corridors. It dates to the early 17th century and it runs underneath two houses, keep in mind this street was dark and cool ideal for storing and selling butter.

– Kilkenny (50′)
Kilkenny is known as the Marble City because of its distinctive black marble. It has a medieval feel thanks to its well-preserved old buildings. An easily walkable city worth visiting.

– House of Waterford Crystal (Ticket included 45′)
Is a luxury crystal manufacturer where authentic and masterful crystal pieces come to life.

What to expect

Kilkenny is known as the Marble City because of its distinctive black marble. It has a medieval feel thanks to its well-preserved old buildings. An easily walkable city worth visiting. 
We start this tour at Kilkenny Castle which was founded after the Norman conquest of Ireland. The castle has been rebuilt to suit the needs of its inhabitants. Continuing with our visit, we will head to the city centre, right in the midpoint of the Medieval Mile where Rothe House and Gardens are located. This merchant’s house, built around two courtyards, was restored in 1966. Now it is the headquarters of the Kilkenny Archaeological Society (This attraction on Sunday will be replaced by the Medieval Mile Museum)
