Itinerary

Mount Etna
A very large flat stretch at an altitude of 1900 meters, where the pine forest is, Pineta di Linguaglossa thins out towards the bare volcanic slopes above. Stop at Piano Provenzana to take an easy walk to see what remains of the most important hotels of the area, since these were demolished by a sudden and devastating eruption in 2002, the results of which can still be seen today.

Isola Bella
This little island at the foot of Taormina, in the bay of the Ionian Sea, is a small oasis that is separated from the mainland by a strip of beach that appears or disappears depending on tides.

Porta Messina
Inaugurated in 1808 by Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, marks the northern entrance to the historic center of the city. From it you can access Corso Umberto I°, the main street of Taormina.

Castello di Taormina (Pass By)
The Arab-Norman Castle is an imposing construction located on the rock of Monte Tauro. This fortified construction probably dates back to the Byzantine age.

Villa Comunale
It was built by order of Lady Trevelyan, an English noblewoman who was in exile on charges of having an affair with Queen Victoria’s firstborn. Trevelyan settled in Taormina, where she married the mayor and purchased 87 lots of land to create the current Public Garden.

Ancient Theatre of Taormina
The most important and best preserved ancient monument in Taormina. It was built in a wonderful panoramic spot, from which you can admire the mass of Etna and the Ionian Sea.

Piazza IX Aprile
Piazza IX Aprile is the most elegant “living room” of Taormina. From the balcony, you can admire a magnificent panorama that includes Etna, the Bay of Naxos and the ruins of the ancient theatre of Taormina.

Porta Catania di Taormina
It marks the southern part of Corso Umberto I, it is part of the second city wall and its construction dates back to 1440, a date engraved on the aedicule depicting the Aragonese coat of arms in the centre above the arch.
